”It’s hard to believe that it’s been 40 years since the release of Live In London.
It’s a great live album. The band was rehearsed and ready to play. Looking back, I think many of the songs were too fast, but at the time they felt just right. (Way too much strong coffee.)
‘Country Boy’ was ridiculously fast!
I rented two 3M 32 track digital tape machines and had them flown to London from the U.S. just for this live recording. When one machine would get close to the end of the reel, we would start the second machine so we didn’t lose any of the performances. I had used the 3M tape machines on some earlier records and liked how they sounded. We wanted the live record to sound as good as a studio recording.
I don’t know what happened to the red coat and the white shoes but I still have my purple electric guitar. It’s a Joe Glaser Telecaster. I still play it on my shows. Come out and see it sometime!”
