Big Family: The Story of Bluegrass Music, the KET-produced documentary that explores the
life of Bill Monroe and traces the history of bluegrass music, is now available for online
streaming at KET.org/BigFamily.

The two-hour film, narrated by actor and bluegrass aficionado Ed Helms, was released in
2019 and was distributed nationally by PBS. Big Family follows Monroe’s career, from his
early years in Rosine, Ky., to his move with his brothers to Chicago, where he got his start at
the city’s largest radio station, to his move to Nashville, where he ultimately found a home
on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.

Big Family: The Story of Bluegrass Music, written by Teresa Day and produced by Matt
Grimm and Nick Helton, also features performances by and interviews with dozens of
bluegrass’ biggest names, including Bela Fleck, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Thile, Alison Brown, Sam
Bush, JD Crowe, Del McCoury, Bobby Osborne, Laurie Lewis, and many more.
